It truly was an honor to deejay my wife’s sister’s wedding in the Los Gatos Hills. The wedding was held in the groom’s (my new brother-in-law!) grandparents’ backyard. This made for an extremely intimate and beautiful setting.My son Christopher served as the ring bearer and it was fun announcing him during the grand entrance at the reception! Our family had a great time reuniting with many family members we hadn’t seen in a long time.

The D3 Productions Team

I can’t take ALL the credit for the successful events put on by D3 Productions. I am lucky to have a great team and like many other small businesses…we keep it all in the family.

My lovely wife Janeen serves as our wedding coordinator. With more than 11 years of event coordination in State government and the private sector behind her, she ensures our events are as organized and timely as possible. She admits that her OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) is the driving force to her meticulous nature.  Of course, she thoroughly enjoys seeing our brides and grooms relax, have fun, and enjoy their day. She’ll often remind our clients to just “be in the room”…meaning that they need to take in every moment during their ceremony and reception, because as most of you know…it goes by in a flash!

My brother-in-law Ryan (Janeen’s younger brother) is our reception emcee when it’s time to get the party started. When our brides and grooms want to turn their reception into a lively “club-like” atmosphere (after all of the formal festivities, of course!) they are never disappointed by Ryan’s fun and magnetic energy. He specializes in getting the guests that wouldn’t normally venture out on the dance floor, involved in the party. We have received many compliments about his fun, inclusive style. He makes everyone feel welcome and part of the celebration .

Janeen and Ryan are a great team working closely with all other wedding vendors, facility staff, etc. They are able to bring calm in times of chaos and panic. For example, at one of our weddings, the caterer informed the bride’s mother that they were not contracted to cut the 5 tier wedding cake for the 175 guests and there was no one onsite who knew how. Of course Janeen stepped in without hesitation, enlisted a few very helpful bridal party members, then cut and served the cake without the bride and groom ever knowing the problem. Ryan has put out many “fires” as well. Recently, when one of our couples became caught in the middle of some family issues occurring throughout their wedding day, Ryan pulled them both to the dance floor, reminded them that it was THEIR day and offered to help resolve a few things so they could enjoy a dance together as husband and wife.

So here’s to a great team at D3 Productions!

As we waited for the ceremony to start, Janeen and I were constantly ducking for cover as golfers hit their approach shot to the 9th green and yelled out, “FORE”!!! Luckily we (and all of the other guests) survived the ceremony unscathed by golf balls.

The traditional Vietnamese banquet with 10 course dinner was held at the Dynasty Restaurant in Cupertino, Ca. The 350 guests enjoyed a night of great food and fun…not to mention a whole lot of Remy Martin Cognac!

In June, I deejayed an event for Under Armour at Strikes Bowling and Entertainment Center in Elk Grove, CA. The event was for NCAA Division 1A coaches and staff.

Janeen apologizes for the lack of event photos…she was busy socializing with many of the attendees!! Small world though…her brother Ryan, who has been living in California since 2003 ran into his track coach from Georgia Tech!

We invited a few friends to join us and of course…we had a great time. Janeen brought in a delicious strawberry champagne cake that we shared with all of the patrons in the bar that night.

My brother-in-law Ryan joined us as well. Since he officiated our wedding 7 years ago it was nice to include him in our celebration and acknowledge the important role he played on that very special day.

My friend and fellow DJ Cedric Freeman worked the event with me so I could enjoy some time with my wife, family, and friends.Our friends and family represented big time by showing up early and decorating our table to honor Janeen’s birthday!

As you can see, my beautiful wife and all of our friends and family had an awesome time partying the night away…

The TTT crab feed was a hit! The more than 400 guests enjoyed food, friends, GREAT music and dancing and an open bar ALL night. The proceeds for the night’s event went to a juvenile diabetes camp.

Celebrating a Dynamic Duo – Senator Darrell Steinberg’s and Retired Lobbyist Dennis Manger’s Joint Birthday Party at The Mix Downtown.

When event planner extraordinaire Sharon Gerber of Six Degreez, Inc. emailed me to ask if I was available to DJ the birthday party for Senator Darrell Steinberg, I humbly accepted. When I mentioned it to my wife Janeen she squealed with excitement and said, “he’s one of the good guys in politics”.

It was a joint birthday party celebrating Darrell’s 51st and longtime lobbyist and activist Dennis Mangers 70th birthday. As important as these birthdays were, these gentlemen took it a step further and turned the celebration into a fundraiser for Equality California.

Mason Wong graciously donated his club The Mix for the evening’s festivities.  Rob, the general manager at The Mix was a pleasure to work with, his associate Hunter and the rest of the staff were awesome!

I actually had the night off from emceeing this event as these duties were performed by West Sacramento Mayor Christopher Calbadon.

A delectable dessert buffet was provide by Ettore complete with an interactive dessert station where you could choose from creme puffs, chocolate cups, butter cookies, and meruigne to be filled with various flavored whipped creams and topped with fresh fruit and/or white or milk chocolate.

Graham Sobelman a.k.a Graham-A-Rama performed as well as the Sacramento Gay Men’s Chorus.

There comes the day when a boy becomes a man, and for Adam Friedman, that day was Saturday, October 2, 2010.

I had the pleasure of deejaying his Bar Mitzvah party at the Mosaic Law Congregation.

Adam was a great kid to work with from the very start. At our first meeting he had a lot of fun planning music and building his playlist for the night. He even got up to demonstrate some of his dance moves to Janeen and me.

Sharon Gerber was the event planner for this party and she did a fantastic job with the theme of “Adam’s Arcade and Lounge”.  A really fun element that Sharon incorporated was the “kids only” hour in the ballroom. Adam and his friends had the entire arcade, lounge, and dance floor to themselves for the first hour of the party. Adult guests stayed out in the lobby where they enjoyed cocktails.

Once it was time to bring the adults in, Julie Steinberg, wife of Senator Derrell Steinberg started the festivities with the Havdalah, a ceremony that marks the symbolic end of Shabbat and ushers in a new week.

Of course we got the dancing started with a rousing version of the Hava Nagila. The kids partied all night and were able to get in some video game time as well thanks to the many arcade games that were brought in for the party. A face painter decked out many of the kids and a magician wowed the crowd with his many tricks.
